| BAPTIZING
YOUR CHILD The Catholic Community of St. Eugene's Parish joyfully welcomes your new family member as a new member of the Mystical Body of Jesus, as a new member of the Christian Community and as a new member of our parish family. As a parish family, we wish to walk with you as your child begins the journey and grows in the life of Jesus with the sacraments of initiation, Baptism, the Eucharist and Confirmation, so that your child may join with us in giving witness to Jesus Christ by sharing His gift of love with others. We celebrate with you the first of these sacraments, Baptism, by which your child will be born into and begin to live with the life of the Risen Christ, the life of the Holy Spirit. · Baptisms are celebrated, by appointment on the last Sunday of the month at 1:00 pm. · Preparation for Baptism is on the first Sunday of the month at 1:00 pm. · Parents should attend, godparents are also invited and urged to attend. · God parents represent the parish community and speak for the community's desire to assist you in the formation of your child as a member of the Catholic Church. It therefore follows that they should be good examples of active, Christian living and members of the Church in good standing. · The Request for Baptism Form is available at the Welcome Board in the foyer of the Church. The form should be returned to the parish office or placed in the offertory collection at least two weeks prior to the Baptism preparation meeting. · The Liturgical cycle and, occasionally other events may cause dates to change. We will notify you, if this applies, when you make your request for baptism. |
